A specimen is prepared and secured in the clamps of the instrument. A load, appropriate to the end use of the fabric or as agreed between the parties, is applied. The load is held for one minute, after which the extension of the specimen is measured with a template. The load is then reduced, the specimen is unclamped and, following a recovery period of one minute, the residual extension is
